Chenoa Williams

Self taught Bead Artist in Pan Contemporary Native American beadwork, Chenoa has spent the past 15+ years working on learning different techniques, and using materials to make clutches, bracelets/cuffs, earrings, necklaces, and medallions from her live/work studio in Duluth.  Chenoa also works with an emphasis on some unique anomalous images which she ahs worked into her beading style. Working and living in Duluth for the past 7 years has been a boon to her artistic life, which includes teaching community members and youth the techniques of beadwork. Countless hours, days, and sometimes even months, went into creating her one-of-a-kind pieces.

Artist Statement

I love beadwork. The tiny sparkling beads remind me of both the past and the future - My style is pan contemporary, I don’t like to limit what I do, and in many ways I am constantly reinventing my work through my environment and experiences. I think of beadwork artists as honoring traditions while creating a bridge for future artists, its all about self expression.

Within the field of beadwork, there are many techniques, from peyote stitch, to whip stitch, to 'lazy' stitch and more. Artists use these varying styles to execute their vision.
